Mineral Wool
MINERAL WOOL – STONE WOOL
Mineral wool, otherwise known as rock wool or stone wool, is a fire resistant, sound dampening, and water repelling, type of insulation material. These traits make mineral wool one of the most safe insulation materials on the market. Mineral wool is most commonly found in the makeup of batt insulation and can be used in almost any insulation application.

ROCK SOLID MINERAL WOOL
Mineral wool is an insulation material that is made from a combination of volcanic rock and steel slag which is a by-product of steel production. Due to being made of natural rock and slag mineral wool is known for being non combustible, water resistant, and also sound dampening and is considered to be one of the safest insulation materials on the market. Rock wool can resist temperatures of up to 2000 degrees fahrenheit while not releasing toxic gasses which can stop the spread of fires while saving you time during an unexpected event such as a house fire. While safety is always at the top of the list the material composition of mineral wool makes for a great sound dampening material and is used often to stop noise, both impact and airborne, from floor to floor or even room to room. Mineral wool, due to inorganic properties, also does not support the growth of mold or mildew! Mineral wool can come in different widths, lengths, and R values depending on the application, but the most common size is going to be a 3 inch thick R-15 mineral wool batt that is great for thermal protection in exterior walls and sound dampening in sub floors and interior walls.
